Other Permit Options
Looking for a different type of Burn Permit? CAL FIRE also offers Campfire, General Burn, and Broadcast Burn permits.
Secure a campfire permit to enjoy responsible wilderness camping with a fire. Verify the allowed locations and adhere to safety guidelines to protect natural areas and prevent wildfires.
General Burn Permits (LE-5) are required for large pile burning, including agricultural and incinerator burning. This permit is also used for hazardous projects that could cause a fire, such as outdoor welding. A site visit may be required before a permit is issued.
Broadcast Burn Permits (LE-7/8) allow for controlled applications of fire to the land for fuels reduction purposes (e.g., grasslands, shrublands, and oak woodlands). No pile burning. This permit requires a pre-burn and post-burn site inspection.
IMPORTANT
CAL FIRE Burn Permits are only for within the State Responsibility Area (SRA) or where CAL FIRE has jurisdiction.
For information and permits required outside the SRA / CAL FIRE jurisdiction, contact your local city/county fire authority and regional air district.
Violations of any Burning Permit Terms are a violation of State Law.
